Hike the Alps all year round!

Trekking in the Alps was my favorite activity since when I discovered it. The good thing I discovered recently is that you can hike the alps all year round and you’ll discover even better landscapes than in the summer! The first time in which I had a trek in the Alps I was 6 and my father asked me if I wanted to hike the 3000 meters of Fenilia peak. 25 years later I did not stop. And I am not thinking to stop in the next 25 years!

Some days are really specials and last weekend was one of these days. We had an amazing welcome by the unguarded hut in Gran San Bernardo Valley, in the Italian Alps. The hut is one of the most luxury and amazing hut you can find in the Alps. Not only has a wooden stove and a gas. There is running water, a toilet and a sort of warming system generated by a idropower station: just amazing! In winter is closed but apart from that is a really good option for a two days hike all year round.

For Joanna, coming from South Africa, was the first time to see snow falling. Her constant smile was really amazing to see and a joy for the goup itself. And even for experienced guys as Rob and Nina and even for me, Attilio and Ambra the second day was just something special. 20 cm of snow covered all the area and the Velan Peak with its 3700 meters looks exactly like an Himalayan mountain.

Rihannon and Adrian were beginners but, they looks so excited by the amazing mountain environment in which they were that thay just wlaked trough any difficulty and reach the pass at almost 3000 meters. At the top of that…just the paradise!

Hundreds of kilometers of white mountains, alone and in the complete wilderness. It was just awsome! We’ve been all extremely excited in the sense that we all start smiling and the “Wow” was the most used word. And this is supposed to be off season? Not al all: let’s hike the Alps all year round! Mountain, good food, great company: what else?!

Sometimes life seems too beautiful to be true!
