Mont Avic Short Hike

Mont Avic Natural Park, is probably the best hut (bivacco) I have ever sleep in. It is a kind of luxury chalet in the middle of the mountain with all the facilities you can dream of when you arrive in a hut (except the toilet). The hike to reach the hut is pretty easy and fit for everybody and in most of the seasons. Even in winter, the road is not dangerous for the avalanches and there is the possibility to warm up in the wonderful wood stove in the hut.

The mountain landscape of this hidden valley of Aosta Valley is wonderful. Val Clavalitè has not a village. Not a shop. Not a post office. Not a school. There is just a road and houses which just recently have been reached by electricity. And the main concentration of these houses is in the wonderful Altiplano with views over Matterhorn and the Becca di Luseney over Switzerland. There are several options on the second day of this Mont Avic Hike. Three paths start from the hut going in different directions. We can go for the Mont Glacier Peak at more than 3000 meters(only during summer), we can go to the wonderful Lavolidec Lake or we can go towards the Finestra di Champorcer and Gran Paradiso National Park.

Monte Avic Adventure: a night in the heart of the Alps

The hut is just below the majestic Mount Tersiva (3513 meters) a big pyramid between the Clavalitè and Cogne valley. It is not possible to climb Tersiva from this valley, as it is only for experienced climbers. Mont Avic Hike is basically a trek fit for everybody: from the beginners to the one that wants to challenge their self in reaching a peak above 3000 meters in the Italian Alps.
