Planned Hikes in the Alps

My wife and I went on a four-day hut-to-hut trek with Roberto in Gran Paradiso National Park. We had originally planned to stay in Aosta Valley and do some hiking on our own, but as this was our first trip to the region we were having a difficult time picking out hikes and understanding the vast trail networks that connect all of the valleys. We reached out to several guide services to see what kind of self-guided treks were available. Of everyone we contacted, Roberto from Trekking Alps immediately stood out as the most friendly, responsive and helpful. He invited us to join a guided group trek he had planned for mid-August. We are experienced hikers and usually prefer to be on our own, so were initially hesitant to join this tour. However, it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable and memorable hiking experiences we have ever had. We joined a group of nine other hikers of a range of ages and varied experience levels with Roberto as our guide. Over four days, we traversed the back country of Gran Paradiso from Rhemes Notre Dame over to Valgrisenche. Along the way we passed through alpine pastures, climbed steep switchbacks to high mountain passes, and navigated glacial debris fields. We drank fresh water from alpine streams, ate lunch on wind-swept ridgelines, and went for icy swims in alpine lakes. Each night we stayed in a different rifugio where we could kick back and enjoy a beer or cold drink with other members of our group before we were served a delicious and hearty dinner. The tour was structured so that everyone of every experience level could fully enjoy the hiking. Each day included plenty of rest breaks, but also an optional side trip to add some more distance and challenge to the trek if you were so inclined. Roberto himself was an excellent guide. He is personable, funny, and easy to talk to. He was at home in the mountains and his confidence put everyone else at ease. He was attentive to everyone on the tour and made sure everyone was safe and having a good time. Even after the tour was over, when we had an issues with one of our bookings, Roberto helped us plan a new stay and some additional hiking to do on our own. For our first guided trek and our first ever trip to the Alps, we could not have asked for a more incredible experience. We loved every moment of our trip and we thoroughly enjoyed the company of Roberto and all of the other members of our group. We would highly recommend a trip with Trekking Alps and we will definitely be booking another trek with them for our next visit.

We were a large group hiking in the Aosta Valley for the first time. Roberto was very professional and knowledgeable and his wife Elisabetta was our secondary guide because we were such a large group. Both were so pleasant and fun to hike with! Roberto planned each day based on our abilities and weather conditions and we saw some amazing vistas and wildlife. I would highly recommend Trekking Alps!!

Enrico is The guide with many years of experience, highly professional attitude, excellent ability of orientation, deep knowledge of weather changing patterns and many many connections with locals in Piedmont Italy. I and other traveller from USA were looking for a challenge and we got one of the toughest hikes of our live. That said he can definitely organize a hiking trail for any level of skills and satisfy adventurous desires of different kinds. I was personally amazed by his ability to literally create a trail on the fly. We could got into bad weather conditions as the weather was changing from heat and sun to thunder with rains and even snow. Enrico was able to read the situation and made decisions to modify the route that prevented us from getting into serious troubles (thanks to him we were enjoying thunders looking at it from other valleys instead of running down the mountain for our lives). Enrico also has a good knowledge of Italian cuisine and traditions that he shares, and even as sceptic as I was I enjoyed it. I can keep going and going, but i’m conclusion if you go with Enrico, you will definitely get what you are looking for and will surely enjoy one the best adventures in live!!!

My family of 4 spent two days in May 2022 with Enrico hiking in Valle d'Aosta with an overnight stay at a hut (Bivacco Borroz) and on the second day a visit to (lake) Lago Lavodilec. The unguarded hut may be more than we asked for 🙂 but memories are made out of surprises and deep impressions. Beautiful off season hike made memorable by the very experienced Enrico. We enjoyed the conversations on multiple topics that only knowledgeable and experienced guides can handle. More importantly, we feel safe. Looking forward to another opportunity to engage them again for a bespoke hike in less known but beautiful valleys in Italy! The secon part of the Trip with Roberto in Lanzo Valleys was also memorable. Great location and beautiful nature!
